Process

Every project starts differently. Some clients arrive with a clear vision — a program, a site, a defined goal. Others are still working out what they want, and need time and conversation to get there. Both are fine. The first step is always listening.

Site and place

Wherever possible, a site visit happens before any design work begins. Seeing a property in person — its topography, its light, the way it connects to the land around it — shapes every decision that follows. For some projects the timeline or scope makes an early visit impractical, but the goal is always to understand the place before putting anything on paper.

Design and iteration

Design at Studio Turba is a collaborative process. Rather than presenting a single finished idea, we bring options to the table early — different ways of approaching the problem — and use targeted questions to understand what is working and what isn’t. Each round of feedback sharpens the direction until the project finds its form.

Planning and phasing

Master planning and phased projects carry additional considerations beyond architecture alone. Sequencing, budget, and long-term efficiency all factor into how a larger property is organised and developed over time. These projects require a different kind of thinking — less about a single building and more about how a place grows and evolves across years or decades.
